Karma Krew

Karma Krew, Inc. is an international non-profit, charitable organization with a mantra: "Do Good Things". It is Karma Krew's mission, with your help, to infuse the world with more positive energy by promoting acts of kindness, service, and community outreach in its many forms. Through karma yoga inspired events and initiatives, Karma Krew seeks to shed light on the interconnectedness between turning inward and reaching outward. There are many ways to get involved, including becoming a member, joining a karma krew in your community, participating in a service inspired yoga retreat, or supporting efforts to bring yoga to underserved populations. For more information or to become a member, see www.karmakrew.org.
Lee County Karma Krew was the third chapter of this organization which has grown to over 30 chapters across the country. Debbie Padnuk is the "Krew Chief" and she welcomes you to join us on our next project.

Lee County Karma Krew
Summer 09 Project Update

Sharing Yoga with the Students of PACE

To date we have collected over $400 worth of mats and new yoga dvd's for the young women of PACE Center for Girls.
There is still time to donate! Please call Debbie at 239-851-9642.
Thank you to all who have contributed!

PACE provides girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy. Yoga teachers and students from across Lee County are joining together to share the benefits of yoga with these young women.

For more info on Karma Krew see www.karmakrew.org and learn more about the PACE program at www.pacecenter.org.

March 2008 Project with Alvin Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center

The Alvin Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center in Fort Myers invited caregivers to a tea, in their honor, hosted by Lee County Karma Krew on March 29th. Dotty St. Amand, director of the Resource Center, explained the effects of Alzheimer's and told us about the resources available. We began the event with a short laughter yoga class (a big hit!). After sharing tea and goodies, we sent the caregivers home with gift bags of gift certificates (massages, restaurants, etc.) and items collected from students & teachers. Thank you to all who contributed, especially Nomiki's, Pagano's, A Taste of Italy, Spada and Sanibel Harbour Resort.

"Quiet Heroes"
In the grey and misty air
Memories still linger there
Thoughts of days left far behind
Faded paths so hard to find.

But at times the sun breaks through
Souvenirs that yet ring true
From within the deep somewhere
Aided now by loving care.

You, who help blaze unmapped trails
Lift the hems of darkened veils
Bringing light to shadowed day
Tender guides who lead the way.

The gifts you share are unsurpassed
Courage, heart and love that lasts
Your strength and grace make us recall
How quiet heroes touch us all!
